What to Pack when Visiting Alaska
Don't forget these important items when deciding what to pack when visiting Alaska. Being prepared makes for a much more enjoyable trip.
Backpack
Whether hiking, fishing, kayaking or just kicking around town, it's nice to have a large bag to carry around.
Cooler
If you plan on going hiking, it's smart to bring a collapsible cooler for snacks.
Hiking Boots
You'll need sturdy boots. And, it can rain a lot, so make sure our boots are water resistant.
Winter Wear
If you plan on taking a cruise to the glacier, hiking on the glacier, or going deep sea fishing, winter wear would be a nice thing to have.
Layers
Temperatures average around 60-70 degrees. Bring items like tank tops, t-shirts, long sleeve shirts, capris, cargo pants, hiking gear.
Rain Gear
It can rain a LOT in Seward, being a coastal town. Bring lightweight rain gear (pants and coat) to prepare for rainy weather.
Rubber Boots
Bring rubber boots if you can. It's fun to check out the low tides near the bay. Everyone in Alaska wears them!
Socks/Undies
Bring wool, breathable socks if you plan on going hiking or fishing. Also, there is no where to buy undies in Seward if you forget them!
Sunglasses
It's probably going to be daylight most of the day while you are in Alaska! Don't forget your shades!
Medicine
Everything is more expensive up here and you could be in remote areas, so make sure you bring what you think you will need.
Bug Spray
The bugs aren't bad around Seward, but if you are going to other parts of Alaska, bring some repellent! Oh, and if it's sunny, you'll need
sunscreen
!
Camera
Don't forget your camera, so you can take the most amazing pictures of Alaska ever!
